The evolution of libraries has been influenced by constant changes due to informationtechnology developments in recent years aiming to preserve the attractivenessof the medium book, which is threatened by an increasing number of electronicresources on the Internet. Once such important technology utilized to benefit the library and its patrons is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).It makes libraries more attractive to patrons and changes administrative processes significantly. This book provides a general overview about RFID-based applications for libraries and how they should be implemented. Several case studies, surveys and research projects are analyzed to investigate this subject from a scientific as well as from a practical point of view. Finally, an RFID-based mobile application was implemented in a real library to prove the results and concepts gained during this research.

Die Vulgata des Hieronymus zählt zu den bedeutendsten christlichen Texten der Spätantike. Das Werk hat seit jeher einen festen Platz im Lateinunterricht und empfiehlt sich besonders für die übergangslektüre. Die Textauswahl erfolgt nach zwei Kriterien. Einerseits werden Stellen berücksichtigt, die Eingang in die Weltliteratur gefunden haben und als Teil einer soliden Allgemeinbildung betrachtet werden können. Außerdem bietet die Vulgata viele Passagen, die eine vereinfachte Beschäftigung mit der christlichen Philosophie ermöglichen. Die Schüler erkennen dabei, dass viele Probleme, die die Menschen zur Zeit des frühen Christentums bewegten, auch heute noch aktuell sind.
