The Tavistock Seminars consists of previously unpublished talks given at the Tavistock Clinic between 1976 and 1979 by the leading psychoanalyst W.R. Bion. This volume also includes an interview of Bion by Anthony G. Banet from 1976.
First published in 1965 this book is the continuation of Bion's investigation of various aspects of psychoanalytic theory and practice. He examines the way in which an analyst's description of the analytic experience necessarily transforms it, in order to effect an interpretation.
These four discussions held by Wilfred Bion with a small group of psychiatrists and psychotherapists in Los Angeles in 1976 were first published in 1978, edited by Francesca Bion. Despite its brevity the book covers in a very accessible way the main features of Bion's model of the mind and his view of the psychoanalyst at work. Bion's War Memoirs is perhaps the most exceptional piece of autobiography yet written by a psychoanalyst. The first section of the book is documentary, consisting of the entire text of the diaries which the author wrote as a young man to record his experiences on the Western Front in 1917-1919, and this volume also includes the photographs and diagrams with which he illustrated his recollections. The diaries are followed by two later essays, in which he reflects upon his wartime experiences. The author has long been renowned as one of the great psychoanalysts, his career spanning much of the twentieth century and making him one of the most influential names in the field. The author's war diary, which he kept with him during combat, covered his years fighting in France during the First World War. He was just twenty years old when he began writing it. War Memoirs constitutes the final part of the author's autobiography.

Second Thoughts hat Bion jene Vorträge und Aufsätze genannt, die zwischen 1950 und 1962 entstanden sind. Sie basieren auf psychoanalytischen Fallgeschichten, anhand derer er seine theoretischen Überlegungen entwickelt hat, aufbauend auf Melanie Kleins Denken. Er hat seine frühen Gedanken, Interpretationen und Deutungen später in einem zweiten Schritt der Reflexion unterzogen und sie in einem ausführlichen Kommentar dargestellt. Das Bion’sche Denken wird so in einem entwicklungsgeschichtlichen Denkvorgang gezeigt. Dies nachvollziehen zu können, dürfte ein Muss für jeden an Kleinianischem Denken interessierten Psychoanalytiker sein.
