Corporate governance captivates academics, investors, and politicians globally, particularly when conflicts of interest among stakeholders arise, leading to transaction costs that cannot be mitigated. Different economies have developed distinct mechanisms to address these governance issues, with notable variations between Anglo-Saxon, European, Japanese, Eastern European, and Chinese systems. Despite ongoing interest and debate, empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of these governance systems remains limited.
