More about the book
The text represents a 6c view of the Trojan War seen in purely mythological terms as an alternative to the «historical» views presented by Dares Phrygius and Dictys Cretensis. Its main literary interest lies in the copious details of the early life of Paris that it gives us, but it is also an important text for the study of the state of the Latin language in the 6c. Its use by medieval writers, particularly in the vernaculars, was extensive.
