Nearly a half century lies between the meticulous nature studies of the young German and the lyrical, abstract works of the mature American from the 1950's and 60's. As a pioneering member of the American Abstract Artists , he strives for individual abstract expression. In his late oeuvre, after having worked through all phases in the evolution of abstract painting, von Wicht develops an unmistakable, personal stroke and thereby his own form of abstraction.
