Louis L. Snyders "Encyclopedia of the Third Reich" is a valuable reference book for both professional and amateur historians of the period. It ranges from the rise of National Socialism to the fall of the Third Reich in May 1945, but it also includes selected entries on the Weimar Republic, which preceded Hitler, and on the Bonn Republic, which succeeded him. Drawing on his own resources as a student in Germany in the late 20s and early 30s, as well as from the incomparable archives of the Weiner Library in London, The Firestone Library at Princeton, and England's Imperial War Museum, the author has produced a well-researched reference work on Germany's darkest hour.
