From victims to change agents

More about the book
Northern educational and training initiatives for international development co-operation still present the South and its populations as being poor, chaotic, violent and needy. Such images of the South are transferred on to a degrading image and status of migrants living in the North. If such domination has to stop there is an urgent need to recognise and operate with positive and differentiated image of the South and the migrants living in the North. In such efforts it is the traditional victims of global inequalities who will be the change agents, owing to the expertise they gained through fighting such inequalities. Northern experts and teachers in such South-North ventures need to begin to learn from their southern counterparts. This book highlights issues related to such transformative learning and training procedures.
