Language mixing and L1 attrition in speech and writing
Authors
More about the book
In this dissertation, a profile of a German-English bilingual speaker is presented to show how these two languages have changed and influenced each other within one individual over decades of contact. The language mixing and L1 attrition phenomena found in natural spoken and written data are described in detail. Analyzing such natural, non-elicited data allows the observation of language mixing and attrition at the level at which it actually occurs, as opposed to the abstract skills that are measured by elicited test.
