Reactors with integrated Palladium membranes are currently intensely discussed for the production of pure hydrogen. With micro process engineering, very compact units can be realized. The very large ratio of channel surface area to reactor volume is an ideal starting point for the integration of thin Palladium membranes towards a microstructured membrane reactor. Different concepts have been developed and tested in this work. The microstructured membrane reactor - μ-EnH2ancer – showed a promising performance for the production of pure hydrogen in a very compact and modular system.
