Quattromodale Knoten: Forschungs- und Praxisrelevanz für den Güterverkehr

Can quattromodal hubs contribute to the establishment of a sustainable transportation system with regard to ecological, economic and social aspects? Within this study, potentials for establishing logistic hubs with at least four different transport modes were analysed, whereas the transportation modes road, rail, waterway and airway were considered. Based on the analysis strengths and weaknesses of quattromodal hubs were verified and concretised by means of (inter-)national empirical values. Consequently, potentials and threats of quattromodal hubs were identified. Eventually, exemplary strategies for overcoming identified threats by especially considering airway transport were expressed. The study results were considered for expressing research, development and innovation (RDI) potentials which furthermore provide an outlook on the establishment of quattromodal hubs for providing an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable transportation system.
