More about the book
Seven Summits – the highest mountain of each of the seven continents, the dream of many a mountaineer and adventurer. In his honest and openly natural account of his adventures, Gregor Hundeshagen, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, describes under what conditions one can get to the top of these highest peaks as an amateur and – particularly important! – down again. 'Most books and presentations about mountaineering are written by professional or semi-professional mountaineers. This book, however, is written from the view of a total amateur.' In the year 2000, following a spontaneous ides, Gregor Hundeshagen climbed Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and hence one of the Seven Summits. Lacking in high mountain experience and with no idea what a long and adventurous journey he’d let himself in for, he discovered his passion for mountains which took him from continent to continent until finally, in 2013, he stood on the „roof of the world“, the last and highest of the Seven Summits, Mount Everest. However, before he got as far as belonging to the small group of those who have conquered all the Seven Summits, he had to overcome many abstacles, not only related to the height of the mountains but also those to the height of the mountains but also those in his private and professional life. In this book the successful oral and maxillofacial surgeon Hundeshagen describes his Seven Summits Quest which he experiences not anly as a sporting challenge but also as a spiritual one.
