In this thesis, the photoluminescence of indirect excitons is investigated at low temperatures. The spatial coherence properties of trapped indirect excitons are studied. To this end, a novel confocal shift interferometer is developed. Furthermore, the temporal-spectral dynamics of indirect excitons are explored. The experiments aim to gain insight into a regime where correlations between excitons can be expected and for which a Bose-Einstein condensate formed of excitons has been predicted.
