Which criteria characterize an effective corporate vision? We derived a set of criteria for the quality of corporate visions from the literature and developed a measuring instrument. Four factors were found that enable a quality assessment of corporate visions: communication, encouragement, ambition, and feasibility. The present research provides evidence for the reliability and validity of the developed measuring instrument for the quality assessment, as well as evidence for the positive influence of certain vision-related motive content and definition criteria on the perceived quality of corporate visions.
