Johanna Sinisalo wurde 1958 im finnischen Lappland geboren. Schon vor ihrem literarischen Debut war sie als Autorin von Science Fiction und Fantasy-Geschichten sowie als Drehbuchautorin und Comic-Texterin bekannt. Mit ihren Büchern hat sie sechsmal den Atorox Prize und dreimal den Kemi National Comic Strip-Wettbewerb gewonnen.
