Abstract This work is to develop the capability for high engine speeds of mechanical fully variable valve trains on the basis of roller finger follower valve trains. Single development steps are depicted by means of new fully variable valve trains in lightweight construction for a one-cylinder motorcycle engine. In this analysis, several preliminary inspections will be presented with which the complex behavior of mechanical fully variable valve trains can be further analyzed in the first place.
