In this thesis, the performance of finitely sized DNA-linked gold nanoparticle (AuNP) networks in photothermal heating and photoacoustics was investigated with regard to the network structure. Therefore, networks comprising two sets of DNA-linked AuNP were synthesised and characterised using OES, DLS, SAXS as well as theoretical simulations and electron microscopy. In combining these techniques, a core-shell model could be developed and supported by in situ-TEM analysis. [.]
