Phosphorus recovery from wastewater filtrates through a novel electrochemical struvite precipitation process

More about the book
Today's „highly efficient“ agriculture is far from being a sustainable system: mineral fertilizers are needed to maintain high yields while the fertilizer production faces problems like limited phosphorus rock reserves. Thus, new technologies are needed to recover phosphorus from wastewater to convert them into fertilizers. The objective of this study was to develop a technology to recover phosphorus from wastewater as struvite without addition of further chemicals by a novel technology of electrochemical precipitation.
