Authors

More about the book

This book brings together 16 contributions from scholars from various European research centers involved in the study of the oldest Slavic language attestations and Texts. The volume was inspired by research done within the framework of the Documentation and Interpretation of the Earliest Croatian project (2014–2018). Most of the papers in this volume were presented at the conference “Oldest Linguistic Attestations and Texts in the Slavic Languages”, held in Zagreb on 4th–5th November 2016 and organized in order to establish a dialogue between researchers studying the oldest linguistic material of one or more Slavic languages and who are confronted by similar questions. Bringing together researchers working on the oldest attestations of Slavic, regardless of the differences in their corpora and approaches, is of great importance, as it is becoming more and more difficult to follow the steps individual Researchers are taking in the study of the oldest period of Slavic literacy within the framework of Slavic philology at the national level and at Slavic studies centres throughout Europe and elsewhere. The selected works take new, encouraging steps in interpreting the oldest Slavic attestations and texts, confront the same or similar methodological problems and show numerous modern approaches to this material. Amir Kapetanovic, Ph. D in Humanities (2004, University of Zagreb), senior research scientist (full professor) at the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics in Zagreb. He has published two critical editions and around 70 scholarly studies. He is author of Jezik u starim versima hrvatskim (2016) and has received several Croatian awards in the field of philology.
