Stephanie Plum - 8: Hard Eight

More about the book

Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum faces a daunting challenge when seven-year-old Annie Soder and her mother, Evelyn, vanish. Evelyn's estranged husband, Steven, a dubious bar owner, is furious and demands the money from a child custody bond they signed during their divorce. This bond is secured by a mortgage on Evelyn's grandmother's house, which the True Blue Bonds Bail Agency seeks to seize. Although finding a kidnapped child isn't typical for a bounty hunter, Stephanie is motivated by her family's connection to Evelyn's grandmother, who lives next door. With a full plate of miscreants to track down, including her old foe Andy Bender and a crafty old lady accused of grand theft auto, Stephanie can't let her neighbor lose her home. As she investigates, she uncovers a link between Steven and the menacing Eddie Abruzzi. Despite warnings from Trenton cop Joe Morelli and her mentor Ranger, Stephanie is unnerved by Abruzzi's intimidating presence. She enlists Ranger's expertise, even if it complicates their relationship. Joined by Ranger, Lula, and Evelyn's lawyer, they embark on a chaotic search for Annie, racing against the True Blue Bonds agent and the Abruzzi crew, all while dealing with a killer rabbit on the loose. Buckle up for an unforgettable adventure!
