Focusing on the Peruvian textile industry's labor dynamics, this sociological analysis examines demographic factors like age, sex, and migration to assess rationality in the labor market. It reveals two key findings: contrary to expectations, the industry experiences low labor turnover, and since 1955, women have faced barriers to better-paying jobs due to welfare laws that increase their employment costs compared to men. This study sheds light on the unique aspects of labor mobility and gender disparities in a developing economy.
