Teaching Critical Appraisal

Focusing on critical thinking in Life Sciences education, this book explores various teaching methods aimed at enhancing critical appraisal skills among undergraduates. It details a study involving 140 students at the University of Birmingham, UK, who engaged in four seminars, a lecture, and an online quiz. The approach utilized diverse source materials, including faux research proposals and real journal articles, to facilitate practice and group collaboration. The effectiveness of these methods in reinforcing critical thinking skills is also assessed.
