Police Officer Carpenter (NYPD) on leave in San Francisco, rescues a young woman in distress and becomes enmeshed in her search for a missing brother. AIDS and the Hearst Castle are actors in the tale which sends officer Carpenter back home thoroughly dissatisfied and disillusioned.
