Perception in the poetry of D. H. Lawrence

The richness and intensity of perception that distinguish Lawrence's best poems are not a coincidence. This work sets out to trace the steady development and elaboration of the sensory element, from tentative beginnings to the highly perceptual and visionary achievement of Lawrence's later poetry, a development which is paralleled by and closely linked to the gradual mastery of poetical form.
