Looking Glass combines the two genres in a playful manner: photography and molecular biology. Die heutige Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien ist aus der Kunstgewerbeschule des k. k. Österreichischen Museums für Kunst und Industrie hervorgegangen. 1867 gegründet, feiert sie nun ihr 150jähriges Jubiläum. Die Kunstgewerbeschule war eine der Geburtsstätten des Wiener Jugendstils, hier lehrten Josef Hoffmann und Kolo Moser, hier wurden Gustav Klimt und Oskar Kokoschka ausgebildet, und später auch die erste prominente Architektin Österreichs, Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky. Das Buch gibt über die historische Entwicklung von der Kunstgewerbeschule bis zur heutigen „Angewandten" Auskunft. In einer umfangreichen Darstellung wird nicht nur die Vielfalt aller heutigen Studienrichtungen zwischen Architektur, Design und bildender Kunst sichtbar, sondern auch deren Zukunftsperspektive.

Das Werk dokumentiert das gleichnamige Kunstfestival der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in einem umfassenden Überblick und mit vielseitigen Hintergrundinformationen. Im Mittelpunkt dieses Hybrids aus Buch und multi-medialer Nacherzählung steht ein digitaler Datenträger mit Kurzfilmen und Interviews der teilnehmenden Performance-KünstlerInnen. Die verschiedenartigen Beiträge werden von Texten und künstlerischen Fotoarbeiten umrahmt. Das Buch wird so zu einer Erzählung vergangener Ereignisse, die in ihren plötzlichen Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum noch schwer zu fassen waren, hier aber zu einer permanenten Ausstellung zusammengeführt werden. Texte der beiden Kuratoren Gerald Bast und Peter Weibel eröffnen diesen virtuellen Ausstellungsraum.

Repetitive methods are prevalent in artistic processes, embodying a contradiction: reiteration links and separates, evokes boredom and ecstasy, and while it may seem static, it propels forward. The artists' book "Re-" and the accompanying exhibition at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich explore this phenomenon. The diverse forms of reiteration serve as both a foundational concept and a visible artistic process. Reiteration connects the contributions in the publication, manifesting in content, form, and material. Some works are adaptations of existing pieces, translated into the book format and resized accordingly. Other pages were specifically created for "Re-" and reflect the interests of the contributors. Additionally, some contributions engage solely with the formal aesthetic conditions of the publication, addressing inherent questions related to the project and the broader realm of art."

Ich habe Studierende der Abteilung für Design, Architektur und Environment für Kunstpädagogik (DAE) und der Abteilung für Textil – freie und kontextuelle künstlerische Praxis und Materialkultur (TEX) derAngewandten eingeladen. Ich lud sie ein, gemeinsam ein Stück in GLAS zu entwerfen, mit GLAS zu experimentieren und GLAS zu kommunizieren. Diese Ausstellung erzählt über unsere Reise, über the mystery of glass, diesem schimmernden und glänzenden Material. Overview The exhibition Artists in Multifunctions showcases the works of 22 contemporary artists and outstanding staff members of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Representing the Institute of Fine Arts and Media Art, the exhibition underscores the qualities of the university as a place for experimentation and critical reflection, focussing on the artists position as an essentially multifunctional individual, a generalist. The exhibition highlights complex art practices in their respective disciplines, as well as the position they represent in a broader educational system.
