Flora Japonica
In den 1830er Jahren begann der Japanforscher Philipp Franz von Siebold (1796-1866), die von ihm nach Europa gebrachten Pflanzen in seiner 'Flora japonica' zu publizieren. Die lithographieren und handkolorierten Folio-Abbildungen des Tafelbandes inspirierten den Pforzheimer Foto-Künstler Günter Beck. Er stellte die historischen Tafeln mit lebenden Pflanzen und Pflanzenteilen nach, fotografiert sie und montierte sie vor einem schwarzem Hintergrund. Dabei entstanden faszinierende Kunstwerke, die die atemberaubende, natürliche Schönheit der Pflanzen mit moderner Bildtechnik einfangen.
