August Wilhelm von Hofmann Books
August Wilhelm von Hofmann was a German chemist whose work in organic chemistry spanned a broad range of research. He investigated coal tar and introduced the study of organic bases in naphtha, leading to an understanding of aniline's nature. His pioneering research on amines and related organic phosphorus compounds, along with his work on rosaniline and quinoline red, left an indelible mark on dye chemistry. Hofmann is also noted for his innovative pedagogy, being the first to introduce molecular models in public lectures and establishing a color scheme for representing atoms that is still employed by some scientists today.
