Excavations have been carried out in the fortress of Qasr Ibrim since 1963 under the auspices of the Egypt Exploration Society. On behalf of the Egypt Exploration Society and Dr. Pamela J. Rose, field director of the Qasr Ibrim excavation, Dr. Jochen Hallof, Egyptologist and Meroitist at the University of Würzburg/Germany, is preparing the publication of more than 700 Meroitic texts from the excavation at this site. This publication presents the architectural history of the Nubian temple at Musawwarat es Sufra, providing full archaeological plans. In 1960-1972 the temple was the object of a large scale comprehensive excavation, revealing the history of this important complex. There are eight building phases. The publication is the final report for building phases I-IV.
