Cornelio August Doelter was a distinguished mineralogist and volcanologist, renowned as the founder of experimental silicate chemistry and chemical mineralogy. His research focused on the petrography of igneous rocks and volcanology, investigating volcanoes in the Pontine Islands and Cape Verde, as well as ancient igneous rocks in the Predazzo region. Doelter also explored the origins of mineral coloration and was involved in surveying ore deposits in the Balkans during World War I. His work established foundational principles for subsequent experimental research in mineral chemistry.
