Colin Bell, geboren 1961 in Mittelengland, war schon früh vom Fußball fasziniert. Er spielte in Amateurvereinen und erreichte die zweite Mannschaft von Leicester City, schaffte jedoch nicht den Sprung zum Profi. Mit 21 Jahren kam er nach Deutschland und spielte beim FSV Mainz 05 in der zweiten Bundesliga. Bereits mit 27 beendete er seine aktive Karriere, da er sich mehr für das Traineramt prädestiniert fühlte. In dieser Rolle pendelte er zwischen Profi- und Amateurfußball und schnupperte als Co-Trainer beim 1. FC Köln Bundesliga-Luft. In einer schwierigen Lebensphase entdeckte er seinen Glauben an Gott und wurde nebenbei Prediger. Dennoch blieb der Fußball sein Hauptberuf, und mit etwa 50 Jahren entdeckte er seine Leidenschaft für den Frauenfußball. Über den SC Bad Neuenahr gelangte er zum 1. FFC Frankfurt, wo er 2014 den DFB-Pokal und 2015 die Champions League gewann. Er wurde für die Wahl zum Welt-Frauenfußball-Trainer nominiert und begann 2016 eine internationale Karriere bei einem norwegischen Spitzenclub.
