Ob over- oder underdressed – Mode verrät viel über ihre Träger. Sie ist Ausdruck der eigenen Persönlichkeit und erzählt von den gesellschaftlichen Konventionen, denen sie unterliegt. Mit der Ausstellung »Um angemessene Kleidung wird gebeten« geht das Stadtmuseum Simeonstift den Dresscodes auf den Grund, die das Leben bekleiden: vom Taufhemd über Sonntagsstaat, Hochzeitsmode und Ballkleid bis zum Trauerflor. Damen-, Herren- und Kinderkleider aus vier Jahrhunderten zeigen den Wandel formeller und festlicher Mode vom 18. Jahrhundert bis in die heutige Zeit. Abgelegte Traditionen stehen dabei im Dialog mit den modischen Normen der Gegenwart.
