It is a misconception to view small sculptures merely as inferior alternatives to larger statues. Their unique format allowed for a broader range of choices regarding materials, production methods, and modes of engagement with viewers, fostering a sense of intimacy. Their widespread presence in both private and public spheres offers insights into the visual literacy of a diverse audience.
