Hans-Georg Noack

    February 12, 1926 – November 15, 2005

Hans-Georg Noack was a German author, translator, and publisher of children's and young adult literature. Following World War II, he worked as an interpreter at UNESCO's International Youth Institute, where his first youth books emerged. His writing primarily focused on contemporary historical, political, and social issues, consistently addressing the 'young adult' audience. Noack deliberately eschewed formal experimentation, aiming for a direct and engaging style that would not alienate or bore his readers. He also gained renown as a translator, receiving the German Youth Book Prize twice for his translations.
