Ladybird

These children's books, known and loved worldwide, evoke for millions the golden days of childhood, learning to read and discovering the magic of books. From the very first book published during World War I, the company Wills & Hepworth, based in Loughborough, published 'published pure and healthy literature' for children. The company registered the Ladybird logo in 1915. Despite the company's claims, however, these books would no longer be politically correct today, as exemplified in the ABC Picture Book where 'A' stood for 'armoured train'.
