Henricus - Edition Deutsche Klassik GmbH Über den Autor: 1837 in Rostock als fünftes von neun Kindern eines Professors und liberalen Politikers geboren, studiert Adolf Johann Albrecht Friedrich Enoch Wilbrandt zunächst Rechtswissenschaften in Rostock. Nach seiner Promotion in München wird er Redakteur der »Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten«, bis er 1871 nach Wien übersiedelt und die Schauspielerin Auguste Baudius heiratet. 1881 wird er zum Direktor des Wiener Burgtheaters ernannt. Den 1884 von Ludwig II. verliehenen Adelstitel führt er nicht. Am 10. Juni 1911 stirbt er in seiner Heimatstadt Rostock.
