The book Migration and Identity in Nordic Literature focuses on migration as it has manifested itself in literature and culture in the nineteenth, twentieth and early twenty-first centuries in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland. Since migration almost always leads to a disturbance of identity and creates a potential for conflicts between individuals, as well as between groups of people, the authors have chosen to examine the theme of migration in relation to the questions of identity, both national and individual. The present monograph therefore concentrates on such cases of disturbance, disruption and hybridization of identity, as they are represented in literary works linked to the European North. The book will be of interest to all readers who are interested in issues such as xenophobia, racism, nationalism, cosmopolitism, globalization, cultural transfer, cultural hybridity, multiculturalism and multilingualism.

Der Literaturwissenschaftler, Kulturvermittler und Publizist Arnošt Vilém (Ernst Wilhelm) Kraus beschäftigte sich auf vielfältige Weise mit den sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhängen in den Böhmischen Ländern, die durch die interkulturelle Zusammensetzung ihrer Bevölkerung geprägt waren. Dabei griff Kraus als Skandinavist und Germanist nicht nur auf den deutsch-tschechischen Vergleich zurück, sondern erweiterte seine Perspektive auch um die skandinavische, die ihm aufgrund seiner wissenschaftlichen Ausbildung zugänglich war. Der engagierte Intellektuelle begriff seine Arbeit über die Wissenschaft hinaus immer auch als eine kulturpolitische Aufgabe. Im von Helena Březinová, Steffen Höhne und Václav Petrbok herausgegebenen Sammelband werden erstmals umfassend die fachlichen Interessen und die publizistische Tätigkeit von Kraus in einem breiteren historischen Kontext vorgestellt und mit Beiträgen zu seiner Biographie und seiner kulturvermittelnden Tätigkeit ergänzt.

Interpretace pohádek Hanse Christiana Andersena. Proč jsou Andersenovy pohádky tak znepokojivé? První česká monografie o Andersenových pohádkách se zaměřuje právě na jejich dospělou rovinu, vznikla totiž z potřeby přiblížit českému čtenáři rafinovanost těchto známých pohádek a přemístit je alespoň v myslích čtenářů z polic dětské knihovničky mezi četbu pro dospělé. Kniha se zabývá výrobou látek ve středověku. Textilní řemesla jako tkalcovství, soukenictví, barvířství či krejčovství byla nepostradatelnou součástí městské výroby. Cechovní řád krejčích má původ již v roce 1318. Sukno bylo důležitým produktem, vyváženým z českých zemí, do Čech se zase dovážely vlněné a hedvábné látky. Kniha nás provází procesem textilní výroby: získání vláken, předení, výroba látky a její úpravy, barvení. Nechybí ani středověké odívání a móda. Závěr je věnován ukázkám z archeologického nálezu unikátního souboru textilních fragmentů ze středověkého smetiště na Novém Městě ve Vodičkově, Jungmannově a Školské ulici (2004-2008).
