Abu Hamid Al Ghazali

Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Ghazālī was a towering figure in Sunni Islam, renowned as a philosopher, theologian, jurist, and mystic. Islamic tradition regards him as a renewer of the faith, appearing each century to restore the community's spiritual understanding. His contemporaries recognized his profound impact, bestowing upon him the title "Proof of Islam." Al-Ghazālī felt that the Islamic spiritual tradition had declined and its core teachings were forgotten, prompting him to pen his seminal work, "The Revival of the Religious Sciences." His "Incoherence of the Philosophers" notably critiqued Aristotelian science, foreshadowing later European philosophical developments.
