The extremely interesting and important memoirs of the last surviving member of the government of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1953 and, also, a leading Austrian financeer in his later years provide much insight into the mentalities and governance of the age of emperor Franz Josef. The present edition is an annotated translation of the original German version by Carvel de Bussy.
