      Sound And Me

Fly with your spirit, MInd Traveling around the world with John Cage

If a picture (visual impression) paints a thousand words . The author Peter Berg questions the accepted view of audiovisual perception. His protagonist, the painter PiTTo, shows us that our rather „subservient“ sense of hearing, coupled with the uncanny 4‘ 33“ app, can also paint clear and vivid pictures in our mind. Devastated by a sudden and severe Tinnitus, PiTTo takes us along with him as he reluctantly befriends the constant droning in his ears, and in doing so, re-discovers the infinite power and possibilities of sound.

"A good eye and well-trained senses are essential requirements for aesthetic garden design. Peter Berg's philosophy takes a very special approach: he expects his gardens to be both sustainable and natural - which the use of natural stone, in particular, is intended to ensure. They should be reduced to just a few materials, and along with the colour scheme, radiate a pleasant inner calmness. Each garden should also meet the individual needs of its owners. His concept has resulted in gardens that are unique and whose fascination lies in the clarity of their design. This splendid volume presents the most beautiful of them for the first time"--Publisher's description.

We humans have always been able to fly with our spirit. In our minds we can instantaneously leap from one place to another. Yet not until the invention of corresponding software has the thinking human found the actual ability to overcome the boundaries of space and time without physically moving his body. The protagonist of the novel, who calls himself PiTTo, undergoes a painful learning process in which he befriends the sound which one night suddenly and out of nowhere overwhelms him. When he realizes that he can no longer escape it, he gives it the name, SAM. From then on the two of them, PiTTo and SAM, find themselves inseparable as they journey together. They act synchronously, and SAM initially gives PiTTo a new insight into the world of colors. From then on every painting that the artist, PiTTo, creates is simultaneously a sound tapestry, accessible only to him and SAM. When finally painter and painting meld together, PiTTo and SAM embark on a trip which leads them around the world. PiTTo calls this kind of traveling with the spirit “Mind Traveling.” His means of transportation is sound. The ability of our ears to orient us in time and space, underestimated due to the dominance of sight, aids him in this method of travel. The protagonist uses an actual app, called 4’33”. The app’s indications of place, time, and especially sound provide the framework for these fantasy excursions.

Focusing on the lack of access to progressive education in a Northeastern U.S. school district, this study investigates effective pedagogical practices and activities aligned with progressive education principles. It highlights the necessity for educators to grasp these principles for successful implementation. The findings led to the creation of a multi-day training program for educators, aiming to enhance their understanding and application of progressive education. The study suggests that improved access and knowledge could foster positive social change within the educational community.

Building on the intensive research of his mentor Maria Thun and the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, Berg explains how the subtle influences from the cosmos work on the plant world, describing the differences among and the significance of root, leaf, blossom, and fruit days in the working calendar. Understanding these natural processes and the practical knowledge described in this book can lead to productive, chemical-free gardening, healthy plants, and abundant harvests.
