Antonio Vivaldi

    March 4, 1678 – July 28, 1741

Antonio Vivaldi was an Italian Baroque composer, priest, and virtuoso violinist whose work is characterized by masterful instrumental concertos, particularly for the violin, and sacred choral pieces. His compositions, often written for specific ensembles, spanned Europe and influenced generations of musicians. Despite a period of declining popularity, Vivaldi's music experienced a vigorous revival in the 20th century and he is now among the most celebrated and widely recorded composers of the Baroque era.
