    • 2010

In this book John Farnworth has concentrated on a very short and discrete range of now "Classic" tractors. Relating them to the aspects of manufacture and the countries in which they were sold. He has further developed the overall theme of the MF 500 era presenting an overview of the implements and harvesting machinery which was used with the tractors. General specifications of the range of MF 500 tractors are presented together with many of the implements and harvesting machinery of the era. Additionally the whole MF 500 era is further brought to life in a chapter in which MF employees have recounted their experiences. This book is a valuable and logical addition to John's existing ten books on the whole history of Massey Ferguson. It will be of great interest to MF enthusiasts generally, the "Classic" Tractor movement and to anyone with a general interest in farm mechanisation.

There won't be any new industrial machines touting the Massey Ferguson logo any time soon. Since 1997, placing the MF badge on these heavy machines ceased to exist. This timely book identifies a total of 26 basic types of industrial equipment produced and marketed by Massey Ferguson. There are three supporting chapters on early, pre-1964 Massey-Harris, Ferguson and early Massey Ferguson industrial equipment. Plus, a chronology of the development of MF_s factories, and a short history of the development of shuttle transmissions are included. This book provides a valuable reference text and identification guide.
