Nathan Söderblom
January 15, 1866 – July 12, 1931
This Swedish clergyman and archbishop was a fervent advocate for Christian unity and social justice. He believed the messages of Jesus were relevant to daily life and that church unity should serve the purpose of proclaiming the gospel to the world. His leadership within the ecumenical movement, particularly through the 'Life and Work' initiative, established him as a pivotal figure in fostering inter-Christian understanding and cooperation. During World War I, he was a voice calling for peace and justice among Christian leaders.
