I per això vaig intentar buscar-les pels racons, cantons, forats, calaixos, descosits... per veure si entre elles i jo li esborràvem les llàgrimes que vessaven de les llargues pestanyes i del silenci espès. El dia que la Saïda va arribar el pare em va explicar que, segurament, la meva amiga no havia perdut les paraules, sinó que potser no les havia volgut treure perquè eren diferents de les d'aquí. —Al Marroc —va dir— a tu tampoc et servirien les teves. De manera que em vaig assabentar que al país de la Saïda es parlava un idioma diferent del l'àrab.
