    • 2018

Presentation slides from the year 2018 in the subject Gerontology, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, course: International perspectives on aging and aging societies, language: English, abstract: Dementia does not stop you living a full and fulfilling life. Many people with dementia continue to work, have hobbies and socialize. For most progressive dementias, there is no cure or treatment that slows or stops their progression. But there are drug treatments that can temporarily improve symptoms, and there are non-drug therapies that can relieve some dementia symptoms. Individuals must have intensive medical physical to rule out reversiblae types of dementia. People with dementia are often not diagnosed immediately and go about their everyday tasks, which include driving a lot. The question arises with which assessments physicians can recognize whether a patient is still fit to drive. Particularly in dementia patients, helpful and meaningful assessments are required. The present presentation, which is based on a systematic literature research, should clarify here. - The presentation is in english.
