Venerable Bede was an Anglo-Saxon monk and scholar, earning the title "The Father of English History." His writings, most notably his ecclesiastical history of the English people, are foundational to our understanding of the early medieval period. Bede was also a skilled linguist and translator, whose work made early Church writings more accessible to his contemporaries.
