Samarra Khaja creates happy, beautiful things, inspired by her love of travel, local markets, food, and culture, as well as her young sons. Her textile work remixes traditional fabrics with contemporary design with cheerful irreverence. Her creations are bright, bold, and most of all, playful. Khaja is happiest when experimenting, going off-pattern, and exploring the textures of meaning in textiles, from batik to kimonos to Basotho blankets.
