The book explores the severe disadvantages faced by rural women in Bangladesh, highlighting their lack of education, income, and power, as well as their vulnerability to violence. With no institutional support to protect their rights, these women often struggle to advocate for themselves. The narrative emphasizes the importance of women's empowerment as a means of achieving emancipation, particularly through NGO efforts like microcredit programs that organize women into groups, raise awareness, and provide financial support for income-generating activities.
