This monograph emerged from collaborative efforts with dedicated colleagues and students at the Vienna Institute for Advanced Studies, spurred by Johann Maurer's influence as the driving force behind the Institute's macromodel of the Austrian economy. Manfred Deistler's engaging discussions in his econometric seminar significantly stimulated our research. We also owe gratitude to Adrian Pagan, Roberto Mariano, and Garry Phillips, guest professors from 1982 to 1984, whose lectures and guidance greatly enriched our work. Hans Schneeweiß provided valuable feedback on an earlier manuscript version, while Benedikt Poetscher was always ready to assist with mathematical challenges. Any remaining errors are solely our responsibility. The programming for tests and Monte Carlo experiments was primarily conducted by Petr Havlik, Karl Kontrus, and Raimund Alt, whose contributions were essential to the project's success. Additionally, Havlik and Kontrus reviewed and critiqued manuscript sections, helping us minimize errors. Many theoretical results presented here owe their existence to Werner Ploberger's mathematical expertise, particularly in the chapter addressing testing for structural change.
