Major H Hesketh-Prichard

Major Hesketh-Prichard was an adventurer and hunter who made a significant contribution to sniping practice within the British Army during the First World War. His measures to improve marksmanship and counter German snipers were credited with saving thousands of Allied soldiers' lives. Beyond his military contributions, he explored previously uncharted territories, played first-class cricket, wrote short stories and novels, and became a successful war correspondent and travel writer. Despite his passion for shooting, he was an active campaigner for animal welfare, succeeding in having legal measures introduced for their protection.
