Lygia Clark fez imersões em contextos inovadores para os padrões brasileiros de sua época. Viveu em Paris, conviveu com intelectuais, estudou e expôs suas obras em vários países da Europa. Com essa bagagem chegou ao Instituto Nacional de Educação de Surdos (INES). O encontro da professora/artista plástica Lygia com alunos surdos, nos primeiros anos de 1960, mesmo que por pouco tempo, conforme registros foi especial para ambos.
