Konstrukcje opracowane i wykonywane w LWD były od początku związane z możliwościami zakładu zmieniając się wraz z nimi. Tkwiła w tym logika rozwoju zarówno samej firmy, jak i rosnących wymagań odbiorców. Początkowo projektowano samolot 'Szpak-1' z silnikiem M11-D i wyposażeniem radzieckim.
